I signed up for this site to keep a log of the films I've been watching, and to get recommendations on ones I might enjoy. No reviews though, and definitely no stared or numerical ratings. I mean, look at this:

I don't put much stock in these rating systems because they feel so arbitrary, and at times the numbers are effected by what similar or related films might have received (if that got this, then this should get that). When anyone brings a Rotten Tomatoes score into a conversation my response is usually something to the effect of "Well isn't that wonderful."
If you want to *conversate about film, then let's conversate.
Growing up, I always assumed that all music came from some magical land of music. Well, not the Brits, they had accents, so they have to have been from somewhere different. It wasn't until all of the Live Aid type music dropped that I realized that Canada had its own musicians, and that there were musicians from Toronto. (Imagine that.)
This song recently popped into my head and inspired this post. I always liked the scatting(?) at 3:12, and the proto-Kid 'n Play (just kidding, Hip Hop) dancing that follows.

But I did walk past him on N Cahuenga Blvd in Hollywood. I posted this on Facebook a few weeks ago, but for those who didn't see it...
Walked by Fatlip (The Pharcyde) just outside of Amoeba in Hollywood. Exchanged pounds and kept it moving.
A few blocks later while I was thinking to myself how awkward that encounter was, I see Kanye West walking towards me.
Time slows down as he gets closer. He's yapping on a phone, but I look him in the eyes, wondering if I'm gonna get a nod of recognition from Yeezy.
Nope. He walks by, and I keep it moving; mind blown.

There's a lot of fake shit out there (Sunset Strip on Grammy weekend...ugh...), but it does feel like a land of opportunity, especially for those with some talent or skill. A lot of people I met did this, that, and the other.
All that aside, I had a great time; a much better time than my first visit.
This web series is one of my favorite discoveries of 2013.
I have an interest in the classics, and I've found this series to be a fun and quick way to revisit them. Sure the character of Sparky Sweets, PhD is a...character, but it's all in fun and edumacation. I'm no academic, but the analysis seems pretty solid to me.
